When were they made. Any physical differences?

1952-1954. No physical differences. The same castings from the same foundry were used in both plants.

The reason Louisville Super Ms are more "collectible" is because they're unique in the history of IH. I don't think any large IH tractor before or since was ever assembled at the Louisville plant. What I can't remember is why they started putting them together in Louisville. I know it's written down somewhere.

IH Louisville plant made little if any money in it"s history. The small tractors produced there had very little profit in them, the 2 years they produced the SM there were the only time that plant was in the black.

Because of the law of supply and the law of demand.
