Finally got the MD running not to bad, thanks to your advise. The MD runs real great on gas, once you get it going, it will sputter and sputter for the longest time, use the choke, and it just stalls out. But when it finally "catches" it is very instant, but it will chuck and chuck for ever, on what sounds like one cylinder. Any suggestions. Also. When on Diesel wide open, you get the odd once in awhile backfire. Timing maybe? Last Question for the night. Today when running it I started on gas, let run for a short while, converted to Diesel. It really smoke alot and missed quite a bit. Even after a good run. converted back to gas for about 10 minutes, converted back to diesel, She ran the best she EVER has. Whats with that? Thanks for your comments there so ever helpful. Many Many Thanks
Matt

If this tractor is just now comming alive, it may be having some valve sticking issues. Sticking valves will in some cases provide that theatrical starting.
I would work the tractor for several hours (if possible) to get it used to running like a working member of the family. They are good units. imN

Well first off you are not allowen it to warm up enough, the best way to tell when it is warm enough to make the switch to diesel is when it will not run any faster when on the gas side they will run faster as they warm that is when to make the switch and always start with a full tank of gas . As far as a backfire goes on the diesel side i realy hate to tell ya this but you are about ready for a pump rebuild as the cam bushing in the pump are getting wore out and the cam is bouncing and this is not a DIY job . And one thing always allow cool down time before you shut her down and i know somebody will disagree with this but this is the best and only way to shut them down is let cool and shut down on the diesel side and not going back on gas as going back on the gas side only heats it back up and ya don't want that and you can take this to the bank it leads to cracked heads alon with stalling them in the field and not getting them started wright away to get the water flowen again .

Are the bushings still available?, and am I doing any damage by still running it?
