I'm posting this here as a follow-up to my original post from last week: Wayne (and everyone), On Saturday I started the C and limped it over to the shop where I could take a look at it. I removed the plugs, and all looked good except #4 which was wet (obviously not firing). So I replaced #4 with a new plug. Started and it ran fine. I'm thinking... "whoa this is too easy".. so a couple hours later I began grading the driveway. After about 10 minutes of work it began stumbling again as before. So I checked compression on #4. 120 pounds (sigh of relief) Thinking that I had an ignition problem, I pulled the distributor cap. Above is what I found. Link Corrosion on the terminals. And "dirt" on the inside of the cap - most of which was nearest the terminal for #4. So I cleaned it all up, applied some dielectric grease and... VOILA - it runs PERFECT. It is amazing. I wanted to be sure and post what I found. It is like having a new tractor. Oh and Wayne - I am about 45 minutes from Madison, WI.
