Guys,

When I drained the diff. fluid in the M, it was kindof whiteish. It looks similiar to an oil and water situation, but I dont see how this could be the case unless some water could have leaked in the top cover. Just curious if any of you have seen diff. fluid that was this color, but I will say if was also thicker than I have seen.

To get to the point, is there some diff. oil that is this color or should I go ahead and get new?

Thanks for the replys guys. I will drain it down and replace it. Wish me luck finding a place to dump 12 gallons of old oil.

Shaggy, I have not put it on a dyno, and probably won't. I have the PTO out of it, and dont know of anywhere close that has a dyno.

When you go to buy the transmission oil as recommend here, see if they will take your old oil. Many places do. If they don't, buy elsewhere like Advance Auto.

I know a guy that pulls a Super C that uses HYTrans in it and has had pretty good luck with the seals not leaking.
Have you put the M on a Dyno yet?

Yes you have oil, water mix from many years, no changes..... ...put the drain plug back in, add 5 or more gallons of diesal, drive it around for 10 min, drain over night ,,,,, then refill with 13 gal. of 80 - 140 gear oil.....

Just about every old tractor I have changed oil in the rearend oil comes out milky if you have ran it recently. If you let it set for a while, then you get water first then the oil. These rearends are not reat tight and water can get it as well as atmosphere. So condensation takes place too. The thick oil just is beacuse it has been in there for a long time. I also think it may have a little to do with the amount of grease one used on the outer wheel bearings for 50 plus years.
