Does anybody have any suggestions about how to free up the wide front on my farmall 806? I"d like to adjust it wider to pull a plow, but it seems to be rusted together. Does anybody have any expirence with loosening one of these up? It"s an IH wide front, not an aftermarket. My tie rods are rusted together, too. (I"ve got them off). I"d like some expirences. Thanks, Andy

I bought an 826 this spring, and have been spraying pb blaster anywhere I could get it into.

About a month ago, I unbolted everything, grabed the axle and damn near pulled it all the way out on top of my self!! My tierods also were loose. Just give it time and fluid.

Also, I have been told to put a "come-a-long" around the spindle and run it back to the rear axle to twist the axle and break the rust loose.

I was thinking about wrapping a come along around the axle like that, So I must not be too far off. I guess I will just need to lube it up well like suggested by everybody and have some patience. I was kind of in a hurry, I'd like to paint the tractor before winter...But I think I'm running out of time. Oh Well. Thanks everybody for your responses. Andy

Allan,
Where did you shoot it full of penetrating oil from? Mine is adjusted all the way in, and I really don't see any place to soak it from except the slot where the clamp is . Is this all the more places you have soaked from? For how much axle is inside the tube, it sure don't seem like anywhere's near enough area to spray from. Thanks, Andy

FC,

I've been thru this little dance on a lot of 'em.

The key is patience and a lot of Liquid Wrench penetrating oil. As a last resort, I use two tractors to help the operation along and just "bump" the clutch on one of the tractors.

Had a 766 back in the late 70s that was the worst I've ever seen. I hooked a 966 to one side and a 5020 John Deere to the other.

You might end up using a little heat on the tie rods. Hate to use it, but sometimes ya just got to.

Just keep at it and eventually, it will come. :>)
