I have been using my grandads 46' model M for light work around my place the last few years. It is just about used up and is begining to knock real bad on the #4 cylinder. It looks like most parts are available, but I haven't seen a crankshaft. I'm a little worried that the crank may be damaged and am wondering if they are readily available?

Thanks,

Yours might be fine, if it isn't just take it to a machine shop and have them turn it down

I would pull the engine and take the crankshaft to
a reputable auto machine shop as Andy has suggested. They can measure the journals and determine if the shaft needs to be ground undersize. They can obtain replacement bearings too. Don't keep running the tractor. Hal

They are readily available but don't run it with the knock.

The crank may be OK or may just need to be turned. They can always be welded up and turned, especially if you just have one bad throw.
