We just dont use it anymore, and would make it easier to put in the shed and be able to park more farmalls around it. With a set of 20.8X38's firestones on the back, soon to have flat top fenders,, 2 lights on each side, tucked under the fender,,, Just picked up a 4 inch dia, 48 inch chrome stack, Im looking to have the grille chromed, and maybe a turbo decal off a 1206. Had the TA, and the clutch gone thru 5 years ago, engine has about 1500 on a major with the newer pistons, M&W turbo,, but it knocks just a tad when started up cold,,, like a lifter tap, then goes away when its warmed up. Dad put new bull gears in and brake pinion shafts after loaning it to his brother in law, and it locked up a rear tire going down the highway,,, why that happens when they get loaned out, but rest assure, they get fixed when they get back. go figure! Was a problem when he got the new bearings,, first set was too small, had to give the serial number, did they change the parts to heavier in midst of the later 856's? Or after a certain year serial number? At the sale dad bought it from,, there was a 1206 sitting right beside it, with a non turboed 407, both tractors came from the same farm, the 856 ran, but blew a steering line under the radiator, had a ratty cab on it, calcium rotted rear rims, but was really clean!! the 1206 ran, rear end was out of it though. The 856, we ended up with, at the time, it had 300 hrs on the rebuild. The block in it is stamped DT407,, Makes me wonder if they took 2 and fixed up one really good???? any way to tell what Ive got here?? Up the road, a guy has a 826 with a narrow front,, they look good!! I like em!
