Ok, I've been trying to get the hydraulics to work on this tractor for a while but have not had much time to work on it the last few months. Now that fall is here I have a little time. I've about decided the pump went out on it. Do you guys know where i can get a working pump for it? I think the IH 2404 has the same pump. The pump is up front by the fan. Is there anything to be cautious of when changing the pump out? thanks, Jerry

I'm starting to run into the same issues with a 68 404 I have. Loader works fine, 3 point works so-so, power steering doesn't work hardly at all.

Can these pumps be rebuilt and if so, who is selling rebuild kits? I looked on parts shopping at this site and they only list the pump for $47x.xx and this is a bit steep.

Thanks for any and all info.

Mike

That pump fits alot of different tractors that use the later versions of the "B" and "C" engine. There is one on eBay right now. I bet twenty of those pumps come up yearly. Sometimes they are brand new. I suppose it is likely that some may have slightly more gallons per minute than others. They all look the same to me.

I needed another independent circuit on my 504 and installed a Super C pump.

Wardner, I've searched on ebay many times but have not found one. Can you tell me how they are listed? I've looked for International 404, Farmall 404, and 2404s but did not find pumps. thanks

Forget using "404" in a seach. I use "farmall hydraulic". eBay sends me 5-10 items a day in one alert. Your search is too restrictive and you will be lucky to get 2 hits a year.

As I said before, that pump was widely used and probably has at least 30 applications.

When I added the extra pump on my 504, I did not bother with part numbers. Although it seems likely IH assigned quite a few part # to the pump, I think they all interchanged. If the pump in the wBay picture looks like yours, it will fit.
