Splitting a 300u w/loader

My future plans are to split my 300u and it has a loader. The clutch is jumpy in reverse and this site tells me it needs to be split. My thoughts are splitting can be dangerous, but only if not careful. My questions are: 1. How far apart do the two halves need to be split apart? 2. If my hyd hoses are long enough, can it be done without first totally removing the loader. 3. When split, which half should one roll away from the other half, the front or rear? 4. It is a wide front, maybe they all were! To stabalize the front, I am thinking of making oak wood wedges to drive between the front axel and the bolster. It that all I need?
Thanks for any advise.

Jimmer: Get rid of the loader first, it will be an albatross for you to deal with, trying to change a clutch.

I bet you dont have to disconnect the hydraulic lines, especially if they have quick connect fittings. Even if they dont, you still might not have to if you can remove the cyklinders and leave them attached and remove the loader frame. I would suggest removing the arms and crossmember first, then the loader subframe. I have a 300u with a loader as well, and would do the same.

I like to use a trailer jack on each rear corner of the engine. Just make up some jack mounting brackets to bolt to the engine. Lets you tip and tilt the engine when bolting halves back together. Use a long stable transmission jack under the rear half then push the rear section back.
Don't now about the loader.

YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE LOADER FIRST.IF THE LOADER IS A U 34 MODEL ,YOU NEED TO HANG IT BY THE CROSSTUBE BEHIND GAS TANK CAP.THEN YOU NEED TO DRAIN THE HYDRAULIC OIL;DRAINPLUG ON LEFT SIDE OF RESEVOIR. REMOVE THE HYRAULIC TUBES FROM THE PUMP TO RESEVOIR. REMOVE THE HOOD PANELS ON BOTH SIDES.NEXT REMOVE STEERING LINK FROM BOTH SIDES AT STEERING BOX.DRAIN THE COOLANT AND REMOVE THE TEMPERTURE SENSOR;ALSO WIRING TO LIGHTS AND DISTRIBUTER.BRACE THE FRONT AT THE BOLSTER SO IT DON T TIP AND BLOCK THE WHEELS.BLOCK UNDER THE ENGINE IN FRONT OF THE BOLSTER (IT WILL WANT TO TIP FORWARD) AND ALSO UNDER THE OIL PAN. UNBOLT AT FLYWHEEL HOUSING AND SUPPORT THE REAR HALF WITH A GOOD FLOORJACK OR BETTER TRANS-JACK,AND ROLL REAR REAR AWAY FROM FRONT(USE 2 PEOPLE). WHEN YOU PUT IT TOGETHER, HANG PRESURE PLATE AND CLUTCH DISC ON THEIR SPLINES.AND BOLT THE PRESSURE TO FLYWHEL AFTER YOU BOLT TRACTOR TOGETHER THEN BOLT PRESSURE PLATE TO FLYWHEEL.
GOOD LUCK,BE CAREFUL!
