Thanks for you thoughts, this tractor doesnt have lights and the ammeter/swich box has been smashed. So im not concerned about any of that just want to get power to the coil. I have a three prong regulator. I drew a little picture and wondered if this might work and if not any suggestions what might. Thank you

Geeeee eeeee I gotta figure how to draw lil pictures n get em posted and at the right size to save me a ton of typing time lol. At first I thought it looked like you were hookin up a plunger deal to lite off some dynamite, like Bob noted that will do the trick (to lite a dynamite blasting cap or power up the coil).

That'll work! For safety however recommend adding a fuse holder and fuse (10 - 15 amps maximum) in the line as close as possible to the battery "-" terminal.
