Sparkplugs for M?

I replaced my sparkplugs in my M with Autolite 3116 last fall. During cold weather it still acts like it's not running on all cylinders. I've replaced the plug wires, condenser, cap and rotor. The plugs are black and have a light coat of soot on them. Which other plugs could I run?

TIA
Bobg

Running rough and missing during cold weather is typical of an M or an H until the engine has warmed up a bit. Usually pulling the choke out a wee bit will smooth 'er out. Might also be a good idea to give the ol' gal a good workout and get 'er warmed up good next time you start it up. If you have to, put 'er out on the road in road gear, pin 'er ears back, and let the horses run for a mile or two.

I have been using Champion D-21 in my 1946 M and it runs quite well.

My M had the same problem once upon a time. I agree with Old it is more than likely running to rich. Try adjusting your carb.It cured mine. Good Luck

Sounds like its not a plug problem but a carb problem and its running to rich. Your plugs shouldn't be black or sooty.

I would try a hotter plug. Usually 3116 are for H"s I use Autolite 386 or 388. Also you can use Champion D21 or D23
