Well just got the rocker arms set the other day, and got the manifold and carb on. Got a couple questions though...these old beasts I know start on gas and switch to a mixture of kerosene and water. Well the previous owner or maybe even the owner before him plugged the water and gas tanks and just didn't use them. I'm not familiar with something like this so I don't know if I need to get these other two tanks cleaned out and ready for their respective fuels or just leave it the way it is...???

One other question is whats number oil do 22-36's need for their rear ends? One older friend of mine said it takes a 600 weight oil but I've never heard of anything like that but once again I have no idea...

Thanks guys for your help I really appreciate it

Josh

The "600 weight oil" probably refers to the old Seybold Universal viscosity measurement, which was the time in seconds it took for a specific measure of oil to drip through a specifc size funnel at a specific temperature.

Somewhere I have a conversion chart that I'll post if I can find it.

That's great josh. I am a 22-36 fanatic. Looks like your questions have been answered. On mine, i like to still hook up the tanks with plugged lines just to make it original looking. There are some guys that will run kerosene just for the heck of it, but i sure only run gas. Pictures would be great.

you will just want to run the tractor on gas. you will have many less problems. the previous owner might have put gas pistons in for more power. i would use 140 weight gear oil. model t fords use 600 weight oil in the rear end.
