Does anyone know what the gastank pads were originally made of? Mine have been replaced with some funky pattern foam rubber, and I want to replace them with something more original while I have the tank off.

Round hay baler flat belting works or heavy duty tire patches or boots work too.

Those pads are available from a variety of sources as are the radiator mounting pads. You can make them yourself, but if the material chosen is not of the correct thickness, you will encounter problems with the hood not fitting correctly, or in the situation with the radiator, the steering shaft could end up interfering with the hole that it passes through.

hmmm, very good point to consider Rusty. The previous set up were home made pads under tank and the radiator, and the fit of the grill/hood/tank was off just a bit. I didn't understand that could affect them like that. Knowing that, I will go with the aftermarket replacements.
Thanks!!

Mike, I cut mine from the side wall of an old tire, with a Hole Saw... Now, if you don"t have a hole saw, drill a 1/4" pilot hole and use a Jigsaw.

MIKE THE PADS ON MINE ARE BLACK RUBBER ABOUT 3/8" THICK. IF YOU HAVE AN OLD BIAS PLY TIRE YOU COULD CUT THEM OUT OF THE SIDE WALL AND IT WOULD LOOK THE SAME.
