I have what I belive to be a 1-PR picker. It has the white elevator if that helps. I feel it should be doing a better job of husking than it is. I would say 50-75% of the ears have one layer of husk on them when they are going up the elevator. Is this normal? I know I am shoving about twice as much corn through it as it was designed for, but I am going in low first with a Case 930 so I dont think speed is an issue.
The husking bed is three metal rolls and three rubber rolls. The rubber rolls and the paddled track above the rolls do look fairly worn, but I am not planning on replacing either of them unless it is REALLY cheap and easy.
Are there any quick fixes or adjustments to be made to improve the husking ability?

Hi, 1pr is a good picker, you have to put more pressure on the husking rolls. The rolls use
compression springs on adjustment bolts located
on the ends of the husking rolls,at the gear drive
end of rolls you can see the springs there is one bolt to adjust 2 sets of rolls to your left. The 3rd set of rolls to right has its own adjustment
bolt.Do not overtighten causes excessive wear.
Ajustment nuts are located on outside of tin work.
The same on opposite end. The rubber paddles have
to be in decent shape they put pressure on ears
so rolls can peel husks off. Can you lower paddles
any further? I made new paddles from old tires. More pressure on husking rolls will make it
husk clean.My picker husks good.

It would help a lot if you picked when the dew was still on or on a damp day.

There isnt much you can do. They werent the best to start with. Maybe you can attach something to scrtatch up the husk so the rollers can get a grip on it.
