Did you ever get an answer to your question? I just bought one and asked the question again but have not gotten an answer.

One source in a publication says a little over a 1000 farmall 450 LP produced. Have heard stories that all those tractors were shipped to dealers with the double tricycle front end and dealers installed another type front end if customer requested. Also heard that above is not true so don't know. If the information is not in the IH records at Wisconsin on fronts installed at factory, I think you are out of luck.

Kevin, Over 21000 tractors made. The front ends were changed out down here in Texas as regular as the wind changes directions. Farmers would have a regular dual wheel tricycle front for most all jobs, the single "cotton" front for planting and cultivating, maybe a wide front while swathing down or baling hay. So the type of front end doesn't have a real bearing on haw the tractor came out originally. Hope this helps.
