Looking at purchasing IH scout ii. Can someone help me identify difference in the 304 and 345 motor? It is a 1977 with a 345 automatic, owner claims. Also any info or sites devoted to these trucks would be appreciated.

Anyone with experience on what to look for before puchase and how these trucks relly are?

Thank you

I have seen a 345 in a scout with a 2 barrel, there are no 4 barrel manifolds that fit a 304

I thought it looked like a two barrel, does that mean it is not the 345. I heard the 345 did have a Holley 2 barrel except in California?

Thank you,

Look for flat space on block just above and I believe a little to the left of the fuel pump. It will say 304 or 345. The 4 barrel carb was standard on the 345 but could be added to the 304.

I'd like to see a picture of the Scout. My Dad has a 74 International 200 truck, I posted about it just a few posts below with the title "International Trucks". Yesterday's Trucks is a antique truck site. go to www.yesterdaystrucks.com
