I was told that a generator was used between the mag and distributor it might of had a connection on both ends.I do not know the year.So I wonder if this was a double drive? THANKS,JIM

Yes, you are correct. Those were made by Robert Bosch. Very rare. I have never seen one. Yes, it would drive straight through to the magneto. They were designed for lighting only and used no battery. They was also a belt driven K-W generator lighting setup that sat on top of the governor housing. I have never seen one os those neither.

I have put a Hitachi one-wire alternator on two F-20s. They are about the same size as a H/M generator. Hopefully, I have attached a picture of one of these altenators on a F-20 with a V belt. The other installation is on a F-20 with a flat belt.

I'd put a Farmall H or M generator on it. They are plentiful and easy to come by. Since IH did not make the electric start pacakages there is no way to now what might be "correct" Some would have had generators installed from common autos of the era and I belive the starter is from Chevrolet.
