Power Steering Question Charlynn or Behlen

I have 2 Char-Lynn steering generators 1 is on a Super M, and the other is on a SMTA. I am using the Behlen #201 pumps to operate both of them.

My H has a Beheln generator on it, and it too is operated with a Beheln #201 pump.

I don't know about parts for the Behlen generator, but the #201 pump can be rebuilt if needed.

A company called Hi-Lo Equipment, 3804 23rd St., Columbus, NE. 68601, 402-564-3415 rebuilt one for me last spring.

I like the Char-Lynn system better due to the generator being under the hood and out of sight.

Both makes do work very well, as Allen said it's 6 of one or half a dozen of the other.

The Behlen was factory unit; red shops cuss 'em and say that they weren't worth a hoot from the get go. Dunno, my dad had one on a 400D and it seemed to work just fine; 'course, the tractor was new back then too.

However, if you're wanting to go onto a M, there isn't much of a way to hide that big Behlen torque motor. It is just pretty much just "out there in the wind with the hoses flopping in the breeze", whereas the Charlynn style will live tucked neatly down under the hood and out of sight.
