My gen is bad and battery too, so I want to convert to a 12v alternator. I see the Delco Remy 10SI is popular alternator. Where do I find the step by step to do the conversion? Can I find a 12v battery that will fit my current 6v battery box?

Dean: What Bob wont show in his diagrams is alternator mounting, for a SA. I see DLJ has offered you photos, I'm thinking good idea. I have a decent photo of my SA alternator mount if you need another option, have a gut feeling same as his. Anyhow send an e mail if you need it.

It is possible to tuck that delco alternator in there, so less than an inch of the alternator is seen from top or front of tractor. I've seen some real messy jobs with alternator bottom side up, it's not necessary.

Dean,

Send me an email and I will send you some pictures of the one I just completed. Was very easy and simple. I took about 20-30 pictures just for this reason.

Hey Dean,
I am running a group 26 battery in my 130 and it fits nicely. NAPA 6026 or 6026R, don't remember which. only difference is terminals are reversed on the 6026R. HTH

Dean: You can go into the archives at the top of this page. Do a search for "12 volt". You can then do an advance search under "farmall" and expand the search to "12" "volt" "conversion". There are about 1400 posts there covering the subject. Many have great diagrams and step by step instructions. I am sure you will find the information you are looking for there. mike

Thanks so much, Red Mist. I found Bob Ms step by step and it will work just fine for my '51 Super A. I just put a new Zenith 14007 carb (from YT)on the A and its just like that new filly I recently bought..full of energy and ready to go. That carb is awesome compared to the Carter that I removed. My engine oil was about 15% gasoline with the Carter.
