So we got everything hooked up, water in, and gas in. We gave it a crank. It sounds like it wants to fire up until you stop pressing the start button. As soon as you stop pressing it, that's it. It stops.
We took the carb off and played with the float a little. The needle seems to stick sometimes, but we played with the float and got it to work fine, as far as we can tell. But that didn't make a difference on it staying running.
We played with the throttle and choke at different positions. No joy.
Like I said, with the starter button in, it sounds like it's running. As soon as you let go, it stops.

What can I do?

Whoa! No, I have the wire from the switch connected to the side that goes to the starter!

I'll go switch it!

If you have a test light, make sure your coil has power when the switch is on...

Mike

It sounds like your close but you have the wire going from the starter switch to the ignition switch on the wrong side of the starter switch. It should be connected to the battery side of the starter switch, so that the ignition switch has power all the time. Keep trying you'll have it running in no time.

Back when my H had a key switch on it, I had it wired wrong and it would run with the starter turning, but not when you let off the switch. Something you could check if you have a starter button style switch is make sure the wire that goes into the amp box to the starter button switch is on the side that goes to the battery, NOT the starter.

Good luck!

Andy.
