how you seperate eng from bell housing ? saw some large threaded studs there, thankyou

If I remember correctly there is a bolt in bell housing behind the starter. Pull starter out and look inside. May be a bolt there that has to be removed first

One bolt under starter in bell housing, two on top, and a couple under. The studs are alignment only, not to be pulled out, they do not thread in.

thanks will check caseih.com going to pull head tomorrow look in oil pan today . never knew a motor could sizze up just trying to start it.

Loosen the starter and see if the engine will turn -- that is a common problem as the starter gear and ring gear wear. I doubt if the engine is seized.

Simply putting the tractor in 5th gear and rocking it back and forth should cause the starter to disengage if that's the problem.

Don't go tearing the tractor apart just yet.
