My H fires right up and runs good. The problem is that as soon as I put under a load or as soon as I pull the throttle open, it stalls out and quits running. I have gas starvation somewhere and cannot diagnose the problem.

Help

went through same thing with 2606. went thru carb and fuel tank. still had problems. Ended up new pts, condenzer, wires, plugs, and coil. ran like a champ. don't know for sure but suspect it was the coil. it just didn't get hot like some say they do when they go bad.

Clean the tank. Add a screen to the tank line.
Clean the bowl. Install an inline filter.

Garden tractors and lawn mowers have that same setup on their carburetors. This is what enriches the fuel mixture. Here's a spare carburetor for my Toro GrassKing mower. Note the
Main adjusting screw. Hal

Open that that main jet adjusting screw near the bottom of the carburetor and see if that helps. Hal

Have you checked to see if the fuel screen is blocked where the line goes into the carb.

Have you checked the points recently ? Every time I think I have a fuel issue, I clean, regap, or replace the points. Fixes it most of the time.

I had this problem with an A once and it ended up being a rusty gas tank...I think they used high pressure air to knock it all off with.

I forget who it was that checked the float level/ gas level in the carb by taking the drain plug out on the bottom of the carb, & putting a hose barb in it's place. Then attach a piece of clear plastic hose & wire it up beside the carb leaving the top end open. This will let you check the float/ gas level. If it has enough gas in the carb, & has good fuel delivery, you can look at another area to see if that may be causing trouble. For instance--plugs/ wires, or points/ condenser. Could be a gummed up jet or foreign material got in the fuel delivery tube.

I would pull the carb drain and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas there for 5 plus minutes. Catch the gas of course or you will throw away $5 fast. If you have a good flow there pull the main jet adjustment screw out and make sure you have a good flow there also. If you don't have a good flow in both places work you way back to the tank till you find where the flow stops. Also it might be as simple as a miss adjusted gov. ot a main jet that needs to be open up some

Do you have good fuel flow to the carb? you might have an air lock or debris in the line or in the carb its self, i would check that out first, one of the simplest things to start with anyway. also check your carb adjustments too.

p.s. I know that your in CT just to let you know there is going to be a pull/show at the 4 towns fair grounds sumers CT. tomorrow and Sunday. the pull is tomorrow. generally a good little show and pull. hope the weather clears

Your carb's float maybe miss adjusted. Enough fuel in bowl to idle, but when you need more, the float can't physicaly move enough. Good Luck.

Take the gas line off at the carb. and blow though the line back to the tank with an air blow gun.(turn on the petcock at the tank and remove the gas cap first)if it runs OK then you know it is the tank that is dirty and not the carb. I have a D-17 that wouldn`t run with the chock off at all and I cleaned the carb twice before I blew through the line and it runs fine now.

I will get out there tomorrow and give it a try along with the other suggestions.

Thanks.
