130 hydraulic pump leaking

A leak has formed around the hydraulic pump housing. When the system is working oil squirts out. Before I get started with the repair: is it just a gasket that is causing the problem? Anything I need to watch out for? I can't seem to find the manuals or a definitive answer in the archives.

Your pump is probably similar to this Pesco pump parts breakdown. You should check item No11
to see if item No4 has worn a groove on it. Speedi-sleeves are available to cover that groove if it has one. Hal

(quoted from post at 09:11:26 01/12/10) Hehe....I wish ol" Hugh had been here to address this one:).

Yeah, well how funny is this? I found this in the archives with the C diagram. It's Dad:

[i:9694222a20]John: As I said earlier I have never had one these pumps apart. In looking at one I would say there should be a gasget, where the two sections go together. I have never had to do repair at the resovoir and valves section either. In watching forums I consider I have been quite lucky. I have always owned at least one of these tractors for the past 40 years, 6 in total, and currently still have 3 of them. Just by law of average I am soon due.[/i:9694222a20]

Well....if Hugh was your dad.....don't you wish too that he was here tell us about needing to fix the pump on the ol' 130?

I all but quit visiting here when Hugh passed on. He was the reason I came everyday....just to see what he had had to say.

By the way....I've never had one of them apart either.

Unless there is something really wierd, like a cracked housing or such, there are essentially 3 ways oil can get out of that pump to some place it doesn't belong.
1) leak past the seal (4), as has already been covered. A leak here will dump the oil into the engine.
2) between the 2 pump housing halves (5, 14). This is sealed by an o-ring (13) in a groove.
3) between the pump housing (14) and the manifold tubes (not in the picture). This is sealed by a pair of o-rings, one for each tube.
You should be able to thoroughly clean up the area then isolate whether the leak is at 2 or 3.

The drive cog jumped the keyway. I rebuilt the innards and reattached just yesterday only to find the housing is indeed cracked. I believe I cracked it when I attached it to the flange around the flywheel. It might have cracked when the pump "fell apart." I would feel better if the later were the case.

Anyway, the new question is where can I buy a new pesco pump housing at a reasonable price? I need the half which is closer to the resevoir.
