1951 TO30... I have had this tractor for about 2 years and until now has ran great. Recently, it has started to sputter and sometime will stall out. Starting it after this problem occurs seems to take alot of choke and it seems to have less rpm's than it used to. I don't know if it is a fuel problem, carborator problem, or an air problem. What does it sound like to you?

Thanks for any input,
Kenton

My TO 20 did the same thing a while back and i put a complete carb kit in and still had the same problems.Sputtering and running real rich like it was flooding out,but at the same time i had to have the choke pulled out in order for it to run, sometimes it would run and sometimes it would just quit.My solution was cleaning underneath the plate under the distribitor cap with some carb cleaner, must have been some sort of metal fragments in there some where, because after i done this it runs like a champ. You kinda have to watch spraying the cleaner under the plate and then trying to start,i melted a set of points in doing so.What i should have done was to spray and let dry,but hind sit is always 20/20.Hope this helps.

Kenton...First I'd tackle the slow turning problem. Start by cleaning all connections, check charging system and start with a full charged battery. Then rule out and air or filtration concerns, clean filter check hose and connections for leaks and so forth. Then Fuel, sediment bowl fuel flow and verify carb. adjustment. Also check for vaccum leaks..and lastly check tune up componets and timing...((more often than not it will be a fuel flow or carb problem)) but it does'nt take long to verify the total system and your tractor will be purring like a kitten again.. If you don't have a manual, post here or search archives you will find the answer
Hope this helps....
