Ok... I just bought a 1958 TO-35 Massey ferguson
tractor. Still runs and in great shape. The problem is there was no owners manual, and the guy
I bought it from knows nothing about the tractor.
It was his Grandad's and he used it up until he passed away. Only thing wrong is it needs a new cellunoid(spell???). Wich I have on order along with a manual. My question is where is the fill for the hydrolic fluid? Transmission fluid? and any others I might need to fill? Found the oil fill that was easy. Found a dipstick for the hydrolic fluid but not sure where to fill. Cause it is low. The dipstick that I think is for hydrolic fluid is on the right hand side of the tractor(if you are sitting in the seat) all most directly below the seat. Am I right?!? and is there any one out there that can direct me to the right stuff?!? Need to know cause I would like to use it now. They told me 3 weeks on the manual..
Thank you
Carl

Thank you for the information Joe & Cosmo.
That CD you mentioned might come in handy.
See I have found a new problem. The end of the PTO, where you hook up a post hole digger or any other implement that requires power, is all chewed
up. So I can not use any of the implements. Not even the brush hog that came with it. Was assured by a salesman that the quickconect shaft would work on my tractor, which I don't doubt it will,
but the end is chewed up bad and it will not go on. So the new shaft for the brush hog and the new post hole digger I bought are useless to me for now. I can still use the hay fork, box blade, and disks that came with the tractor, just nothing that requires power. Dealer told me they could fix it if I took the pto shaft out of the tractor and brought it in to them. So it looks like I am going to get dirty, and going to need that CD mentioned by Joe. Would just tie into it but don't want to make the problem worse.....

Agian Thank YOu for the Help Guys!!!
Carl

Just a note on the TO35. If you want to know anything about them on eof the best resources I have found is a retired MF Mechanic named Dean Austin.

He sells a CD that covers the tractor and repairs that I found to be very good. It was written for someone that (like most of us) hates to go though a repair manual and sort out all the B.S.

You can get him with this e-mail. Daustin62@aol.com

Thanks Joe in Houston

The hydraulic oil and transmission oil are the same. The fill hole is to the left of the gear lever. If the oil is milky looking it needs to be changed, which would probably be a good thing to do anyway. It takes about eight gallons. There's a lot of discussion in this forum of what type oil is best. I would go with the dealer's. You are right about the dip stick.
