Where can I get GL-1 lubricant. The two Massey dealers by me look at me like I am stupid. I am reading that correctly aren't I? There is an oil refinery north of here, but they only have it in 55 gallon drums, I hope to never need that much. Any help please. Thanks

Having trouble finding GL-1. Union-Mobil sold me a product they say is the same but I am not convinced and will not use it until confirmed (Mobil DTE BB). Although the specs state the use is the same, nowhere on the specs or bucket says it is mineral oil and I am leary. Anybody have a comment?

Yeah!

This stuff is not gold. Wally world has it here north of Dallas. Also, there are a lot of guys making a retired living restoring relics and the local auto parts stores stock it. It's brand x, but refined in Oklahoma to GL-1 specs. I've been using it for like 25 years in 4 tractors and haven't dropped a third member yet...at $17 per 5 gallon pale.

Shell Dentax & Amalie SMG are both GL-1 lubricants that are avaiable at many auto part stores ($40/5 gal). My local auto parts store has Shell Dentax for owners of Ford 9N,2N & 8N and Ferguson tractors. Amalie states, on their web site, that their SMG "will not contribute to wear, etching, or corrosion of yellow metals (such as brass or bronze)."

Spec sheets for both oils can be found on the web. Hope this helps.

If you go to a WalMart out in the country, they might have it in 5 gallon buckets (all of our "city" walmarts don't have it). Also, go to tractor supply and look for Ford Transmission oil. It is actually just GL-1 mineral oil (says so right on the bucket).

Check the archives. This has been discussed many times. There should be other vendors listed for your area.

I am not 100% sure but I believe the massey ferguson oil # is 1103. Walmart and Tractor Supply Company have gl-1. Sometimes you have to look stupid back to get their attention.

NAPA carries GL-1 in 5 gallon buckets.
Ask for part number NHF 65-205
