I have just purchased a H.Ferguson tractor. From the ID plate above the steering wheel I found the serial number TO-47854. And on the engine block I found what appears to be a casting number CWC L313. There also seems to be a plate on the left side of the block that is unreadable. From what I have found it The serial number is from 1951, but it can be either a TO20 or a TO30? How else can I determine what I have?

Also,

If engine has a Z-120 on left side near bottom it is a TO-20 and if Z-129 then TO-30.

If the engine has an external oil filter on left side of engine its a TO30, if it has large round plate on the oil pan the oil filter is in there and it will be a TO20

Thanks guys! From the info. given by Jeff-oh, John(UK) and a old tractor catalog, I was able to determine that my tractor is actually a TO-30. It has the external oil filter and another number cast on the block that started with Z129-XXXX. Now I have ordered service and parts manuals.

thanks again!
