I just bought a Ferguson 35 and it no longer has the Ser # plate. I am going to pick it up this week and would like to get the correct manuals for the model tractor. It appears to be a 35 assuming someone hadn't just put the 35 badges on it. It does have the 4cyl Continental and I will try to track it down with the engine ser# once I get it home. What I would like to find out is the difference between the Deluxe and Special? This tractor has factory power steering and from what I understand thats a pretty rare option. Any other pointers to help ID this machine would be greatly appriecated. I have some photos to e-mail if this would help. They aren't the clearest photos so I will take better ones when I get it home.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Ed.

Ed, log on to this site. Then e-mail them with the engine SN and ask them when the engine was built and shipped to MF. They can tell you. That will give you a good estimate of what year the tractor was built.

Thanks Paul,

I already got that link from another post you had made earlier to someone else. But I do greatly appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Would you happen to know how I might be able to tell if it is a TO35 FE35 or MF35? Phil posted after you explaining to check the clutch to see if it is a Special or a Deluxe. Another question I would have is; since there is a Special and a Deluxe model am I assuming correctly that there was a Standard model?

Good day Ed.

Just a little more that might be of help.

The TO35 is a US designation, probably with the Z134 continental engine FE is a Uk designation probably with a Perkins in it and the MF35 is probably the Canadian and would likely have a Continental in it.

Hope that helps.

Don't think there was a "standard" model. Just special and deluxe. Sorta like hamburgers, big and giant, etc... never a small.

Engine serial should begin "Z134..." etc, if it is a 35 with Continental engine. The Deluxe has a two stage clutch and also a tractormeter (RPM, etc). But some Specials had the tractormeter as an option. Anyway, the two stage clutch works like this: depress half way and there is a "notch" and the tractor tranny disengages stopping movement of the tractor; depress all the way and the PTO disengages. This allows you to stop the tractor and leave the bush hog or post hole digger working, which might be helpful like backing up to a fence to mow, etc. Hope that helps.

Thanks Phil,

I pick it up on Friday and will check out that clutch. Since there is a Deluxe and Special model was there a Standard model as well?

Also do you know how I might tell if it is an TO35 FE35 or MF35? From what I understand and I might have this wrong but TO35's where the first 35's built and only go to a certain year when they then became MF35's until the end of their production and FE35's where the same as, I guess, both of them except produced in England. Do I have that right and if so do you know the years in which each where built or where I might find out?

Thanks again for all of you help. I know it's probably impossible but I would like to try and narrow this down to the exact S/N. I found a place on the internet that is reproducing the original Ferguson Data plates and if I can come up with a S/N I will be able to give this tractor back it's ID.

Ed....
