Can anyone tell me what thread the brass fuel tank cap on a TEA20 is. I am making a new tank and wish to retain the original cap.

Hi Russ... To answer your question, if you fabricate well, you can probably make a better tank. Make sure it has baffles if the oem did. The threads are probably "whitworth", or "British Standard". I have found, in my English car dealings, that an exact match is difficult if not impossible. Having said that, I'd get a metric and standard pitch gage and find the closest one. From there you'd have to dress the threads with a thread file. Good luck, have fun!!! Mike

New Tanks are available ready made, if that saves you some trouble? Sparex part number S42413. I take it that you are in Australia from your nick on here...have you tried BareCo or their agents as they supply them out there.

Be very careful with Sparex tanks, I bought one and sent it right back It was absolute rubbish, it was dented and so rusty, inside and outside, that it looked like it had been stored outside for months.

If it was like that I don't blame you I would have done the same. But they are not all like that there are quite a few being sold by various dealers. The tank they sent you must have been lying around somewhere for a while. I don't think Sparex would have sent it out like that and they wouldn't supply you direct so it goes back to your dealer I suppose, now where did he get it from and when???
