This is what I found when I split the tractor today. Nicest Transmission I have ever seen in a 50 year old tractor. All I did was drain the fluid and take the picture. I think it has been replaced because I see no wear at all! Mark H.

To keep parts from falling into the trans if they come loose. Stops them from turning around till they unscrew completely. Mark H.

This is what you want to find when you split the tractor and look into the Pump area! Again all I did was drain the fluid. Cleanest housing & parts I have seen in a 51 year old tractor. Mark H.

Gee Mark , it's what you like anyhow ( clean parts ) right ? I still haven't been able to make my parts look close to how you can .Even getting alot of wire brush pieces in my fingers & brush burns to prove my efforts . Nice find ! Take care , Ken

There is a few tricks to doing it. The fine cup brush on a right angle grinder works great on a lot of big parts. The4 fine wires seem to get more off but wear faster. If you use some purple castro cleaner at the same time spray it on it lubercates and breaks down the paint also. Just befor brushing wet it down good and let it soke till it starts to dry then hit it and wet it as you do more cleaning. The bench grinder with a wire wheel works good on small parts but watch out it can grab parts and bust them or throw them across the shop fast! Allways stand to the side of it in case this happens!! Gloves and good old gas works great for getting the main junk off and I just use what was left in the gas tank for that. The other thing is it takes time to get them realy shinny but not nessasary for paiting reasons. I just like to see some of them like new when they started out looking like %&$#. Satisfaction of a good job. I also find by cleaning the real good you tend to look at them real close for a long time and catch things you missed in the begining. Like waxing your car and finding all the dings and nicks you don't want to see! Mark H.
