Governor Needed? TO20

Hello all, as you have probably guessed by all of my recent questions, I am still trying to figure out my new old toy. I just got the manual and realized that my governor appears to be disabled. The spring is missing in the linkage assembly. What would the benefits be of getting the governor as it should be? How does it affect the operation of the tractor?

Thanks,
Matt

The governor is essentially the "cruise control" of the engine. It attempts to keep the engine speed constant (at a particular throttle setting) under varying load. If your load were always constant, you wouldn't necessarily need it, but even your lawn mower has one... Jim
