Yes it's bad, but let me give you another perspective. Here in Ontario Canada, our gas is 135.9 cents per liter. That is $5.13 Canadian per U.S. gallon, $4.10 US per US gallon.
In Europe it's the equivalent of $7.00 US per US gallon.
When I fill my Aviator, it's using 91 octane. I haven't filled in a while. The price will be scary. If we were prudent, we could reduce our consumption, and that would send the oil companies a message.

Morning Jake
Gas here in Belleville Ontario Canada was at 124.9 cents per liter here yesterday, so as Al in B.C. stated times that by 4 and you get $ 4.99.6 per gallon. I use to fill my Fergy up for around $25 now it takes almost $35. Ah yes the price to have fun just gets more and more expensive. Stay well everyone

I"m from Central New York State, I put 300 miles on the car today. This morning I filled up near Cooperstown NY 2.859/gal. Tonight I came back from Massachusetts and refilled on the NYS Thruway at $2.659/gal, but they were changing the signs to $3.14 as I left. I saw prices as high as $3.799 during the day.

It all sounds good to me, at least you can find some to buy. No gas for three days. I would gladly pay $3.50 for any. It's all in the perspective.

Warch the following gov't web site- >Link

In addition the LOOP is closed- it is the only offshore terminal for super tankers and usually brings in another 1 million barrels per day. Between the rigs and the LOOP- oil supply ahead of refineries is down 12% (The US uses ~20.5 million barrels per day). The strategic petro reserve (SPR) can make up part of that, BUT ...

12% to 15% of refinery capacity is down along with major pipelines. EVERTHING is centered on New Orleans. For example, the Colonial pipeline has turned back on at only 25% capacity. It moves refined gasoline from TX & LA to the Northeast. Finally, oil from the SPR is heavy oil- lots of the refineries need the light oil from the gulf to work correctly. Refineries in the upper midwest have started to cut back production.

And thats just gas- think about natural gas, lubricants, plastics, ...

Its going to hurt!

Heres something interesting. Gas Prices in England:About $6.50 per gal.
Norway and Sweden:$8.50 per gal.
What makes Europes so expensive is the taxes their country puts on the gas.
Natural gas prices in Norway are so high they have 2& 3 famalies living together in the same house in order to be able to afford natural gas. I suppose it beats freezing but what a price to pay.All I can say is this..Stand by America these prices and conditions are "coming to a theater near you" and quickly I might add. I got rid of my pickup with the large engine and travel trailer some time ago because I could see the writing on the wall. Unless you are very rich you might think on getting rid of 6 and 8 cylinder cars and RV's. Because somewhere down the line these will be museum pieces and you won't be able to give these gas hogs away. Trust me. Its gonna happen..

Just a thought, but rather than fill up and complain, buy just enough to get you through the to the next day. Think about it, supply and demand. As the price shot up today to 3.19 or better, and every body, just purchased a few gallons what a message that would send. We all just need to cut back our use to send them a message.

Hey guys.

Think that"s bad. How would you like $1.18 cdn / liter. A liter is close to your quart. So multiply by 4 and you get $4.72 / Us Gal. You think your being ripped off. We have tax an the tax up here. Oh I forgot the exchange in there. Even you folks can"t afford to come to Canada anymore.

We're at $1.199/liter in Saint John, NB. It's not going to break me, but I pity those driving large vehicles. As for little Harry the Ferguson, he'll be getting all the gas he needs. :-)

I heard that if you account for inflation, our fuel still doesn't cost "what it should", compared to 20 years ago. So, it's still cheaper, based on that inflation idea... I'm trying to make myself believe that it's a good thing. Ha ha.

I was in Sault St. Marie in mid Aug. and the prices were $0.99 / liter. Last Summer they were $0.82 / liter that is a 20% increase.

Last summer Gas was $1.59 thus we should be seeing prices at $1.90 for a similar percentage rise.

For a similar price rise as we have been gouged for your would be paying $1.75/liter.

I do agree you are taxed way too much... But hey you got health care... :-)

Are you guys talking about Regular Unleaded or the Hi-Test? I just bought Regular Unleaded (Special California Brew) for 2.91-9/10. The Hi-Test was 3.15-9/10 per gal. They tell us that Calif is 30 - 40 cents higher than the rest of the country due to our Special Brew. Who do we believe. The Oil companies blame it on OPEC, but they also are recording record high profits. I think it's BOHICA.....(Bend Over Her It Comes Again). But of course, that's only one mans opinion.

Jeff: You got that right. Any excuse to scam the public. If it hadn't been the huricane it would have been some oil rig worker falling and breaking a safety valve that set-off a blow-out preventer that shutdown the entire oil field causing some major failure in the sytem that did who knows what. And the media buys into it to help inflate the price of everything. Please don't breath too deep, it may cause the price of air travel to skyrocket. Buy who is cynical, me?

It's all very interesting. We in Saint John have the biggest oil refinery in Canada, but we're paying some of the highest prices in our region. Places where they have to drive a couple of hours to deliver fuel have LOWER prices. It's all very complicated.

Maybe we shouldn't complain too much. It's all about free enterprise. Are those of us with businesses allowed to charge what we feel we need for our products? It's the same with refiners. I sure don't like it, but I'm trying to make some sense of it. :)

Pretty sad though, that, Canada produces over 93 % of it's own HOME GROWN supply with the rest being imported. Certainly sounds like a fix and a scam to me. No time for revolution but I think that each province should have more say over the happenings in it's own province. I think the Feds and the Gas Producers might be in cahoots, one making the profits and one making the tax at our expense Ha Ha.

I wish you guys would give up complaining about gas prices, you don't know how lucky you are. Locally at this time our gas is £4.90 per gallon. It was only about three weeks ago the oil companies were posting their profits and saying how many more billions they had made in the last quarter than previously, so if the gas and oil is costing more to produce, obviously we pay more but if they are only passing to us the price rise to them, how come they are making so much more than they have ever done, I would have thought the profits should have worked out about the same as they usually do.

World price of oil is figured in US dollars. In effect, the dollar is based on oil. It used to be based on silver, and before that on gold. With the devaluation of the dollar, those who have dollars stashed away (mostly China) are very anxious to buy something before they go down more, so they are buying oil contracts. That's my belief.
