Does anyone know the maximum design ampere output of a 1948 TE 20 generator?
I am going to build a solid state voltage regulator to increase output to 12 Volts, but I need to know the maximum design current for the generator so I can limit the current to a safe value.
Thanks,
Terry S

I think the max output is around 15 amps at 6 volts on the TO-20, often they are more like 10-12. Not sure if this is the same for TE

Thanks for the info, George.
Presuming 15 amps is max, I will use 12 amps to be on safe side. Not much load on the system anyway;ignition coil, lights etc.
Heaviest load will probably be recharging battery after starting.

TEA generator output is 11 amps; I suspect TE is too as they are both Lucas systems.

Thanks Jim. 11 Amps will be max. to be on the safe side.I had rather undershoot than overshoot.

You are correct Jim it is as you thought..11-13amps. The original generator on a TEA was the same as on the TE, they changed it later.
