I"ve had this TE20 that was given to me for a while now and its run and not run during the whole time. The guy who had it before me put a 12v battery on it with the + side going to the starter and the - grounded on one of the starter mounting bolts. He has the stock Lucas distributor and a switch to turn the points on/off. The battery power goes through a solenoid with a start button on the bottom of it. The generator does not work so it just runs off of a charged battery. There is no voltage regulator or any other switches hooked up from the old 6v system. Apparently someone left the switch on and burned the points out again so i replaced them and i still have no spark. I"m getting 12v always to the coil which doesnt sound right and just having trouble figuring out what power should go where.

So i"d like to start over. I hope you can help. I need a map and/or a list of parts to get to use the stock Lucas distributor and a 12v automotive battery. I do plan to eventually get a GM alternator and run that to charge my 12v battery but until then i want to make sure the tractor will run before i worry about recharging it.

Thanks for the help!!

The link on top of the page labeled 12 volt kits will show what parts you need for this type of conversion. The 'articles' link under the research and info tab will also point you in the right direction for this type of conversion. I did it on my tractor, utilizing the info found there, and was surprised how painless and inexpensive it was.
