I"m 6" 5" tall and this simple maintenance action is over my head. The right front tire on my "working" TO-20 is flat and the problem is the very old tube is leaking from the tube near the valve stem. I removed the wheel bolts expecting the wheel to come off; but, although it is loose, it stays in place. I have a feeling the wheel weights may be keeping it from coming off. I attempted to remove the 4 bolts holding them but the first one broke right off. Since it is crop season, I backed up and put it all back together since the tire will stay "up" for about 30 minutes at each pumping. What is the secret? I considered trying to get the tube out "on the tractor" but the tire, though serviceable, is very old....I"m afraid it won"t survive my trying to break the bead on the tractor. I would then be "out of business"...at least for a while. If removing the wheel weights will work, I can do this and replace them if they all break. I just need to know if removing these weights will, for sure, get the wheel off. I need some help..thanks out there....

The wheel will not come off without first removing the weights - if they are the half moons that bolt on from the inside. If you bust a bolt removing them, you should be able to drive it out with a punch and a BFH. The weights don't have to go back on any time soon (or ever). Mine took some banging to get off, but they did come off. It's easier getting them off than putting them back on.

Why not just pump the tube full of that tire sealant stuff? It will certainly take you through the season and then you can fuss with the wheel when you have"nothing better to do".
