Help! I’m trying to locate the appropriate RADIATOR replacement for a Ferguson TO30 and radiator PN 181623M1 doesn’t fit. Tractor’s SN is 73995 (1952) and the engine plate specifies a Continental Z129 engine. Additionally the fan is 4 blade has a 1.25” square bolt pattern and is about 15.25” in diameter. Every resource I’ve check for getting a new replacement has PN 181623M1 or some version of it. But this radiator does not fit. Its dimension are slightly too tall and too wide. The mounting bolts on the bottom are slightly too far apart. The relief hose runs along the side and not the back (adding to the width problem). Also the inlet connection for the top tank is mounted horizontally and the drops at an angle causing a misalignment with the engine block connection (it would require a dog legged hose to connect). The inlet connection misalignment looks like it would also cause significant interference with the fan shroud. And the drain tap is on the back and would seem to be a bit difficult utilize with the radiator properly mounted. The radiator I am replacing has the upper tank inlet pipe mounted at approx 30deg and aligns perfectly. Do I simply need to make 181623M1 fit? I’d like to retain the current radiator but it’s probably reached it’s terminal limits (bad cores, JB welded tanks, etc). Estimated to be $450 to repair.
Best Regards

Sounds like you got the radiator made in China, you
need the one from Turkey.

I went looking around the net a bit and the pictures of the new ones sure don't look right, as you said. If they are using the correct parts number from the book on them then you would think they would at least fit! Hopefully there is more than one source of new radiators and one will work. If it was me, I would call some tractor bone yards and keep an eye on Ebay for an original, even if it needs a little repair. Good luck, and let us know how this turns out.

Thanks Dan. In addition to getting a radiator I'd like to find out if any of the TO experts have an opinion or knowledge of manufacturer (China, Turkey, Pakistan, etc) discrepancies. I found some pretty good prospects on eBay in the sense that although all listed the same PN a couple also indicated their years of experience w/ TO's and gave a contact # (fingers crossed on those). I also posted a WANT ADD in the YT CLASSIFIEDS and so far have gotten 1 very good reply from a gentleman who knows where his replacements come from (more on that if it pans out - fingers crossed as well).
