Bob..... ..well I consider Swan Lager better'n Foster Lager. So there! BELCH!!! We flew into Perth in late January and off-loaded the Apollo ground station test crew for their LOOoong drive to Carnarvon TS for testing against our C-121G calibration aircraft, (200-knots, 4-props and 3-tailfeathers). So we had a long weekend to while away. Yep, they gotta a 'roo too. Having pasted a liquor store on drive from airport to swimming pooled motel, couple of us volunteered to go back and buy a case of ICY COLD BEER. Parked on street and walked into shop, our yank accent immediately gave us away. (grin) Told clerk we wanted a case of Swan Lager beer. He replies "Are you certain you want a case?" YES!!! Well he quoted a price in L&S&P. We haddn't quite got the conversion to USD$ quite figgered out yet, but we're throwing money on counter. Then he sez to drive around back to loading dock. Well every country has DIFFERENT booze laws so that didn't throw us. As we reversed up to the dock, a VERY LARGE WOODEN CRATE was wheeled out to our Plymouth Valiant sedan's trunk. Now that threw us. 64-liter bottles of Swan River's finest; and we were expecting the Yankee case equivalent of 24-bottles of 16-oz (1/2-liter) beer. Found out what we really should have asked for was a "carton" of beer 'stedda' "case" of beer. Not surprizingly enuff, with 8-HOT bored aircraft crew setting round the pool, 64-bottles of swill would NOT HAVE LASTED very long. We also found out the most favorite thing to do in Perth on Sunday, was to go out to the Lounge at the airport and watch airplanes touch'n'go. Somehow the airport lounge was licensed to DISPENSE on SUNDAY, all other taverns and bars were closed due to Sunday BLUE LAWS. Perth is a very thirsty town, eh? ..... ..Dell
