Lift arms too low.

I have a 4000SU. It's a great tractor but I have one thing I would like to change. When my lift arms are all the way down, the balls are only about 6" off the ground. I just bought a small 3 pt. backhoe and the instructions say to leave the arms all the way down when the backhoe is attached. This gives me only a couple inches ground clearance, on flat ground. Can I pull the lift arms off the rock shaft and rotate them up a couple of notches? Is there a better way to address this problem? I sure hope someone has a solution to this. Thanks for any and all advice.

Can you chain the bottom arms to the top 3-point, like many older finish mowers do? A chain on each side from the bottom outer pins up to the top middle tractor point?

Not familiar with your tractor, but newer ones have the lift rods threaded, can adjust up & down there. (The right one should have a crank to adjust, the left may also be threaded, take off & spin up?)

Older tractors may have different holes in the middle of the lower 3-point arms to rearrange the geometry which changed the height.

Paul, thanks for responding. I had thought about this approach but it seems the lift arms won't carry any weight and all the weight of the backhoe would be hanging on the top link attachment point; that didn't seem like a good idea.

Most 3 pt backhoes have a number of holes to adjust the hitch for height and to make it rigid.
