I have a 1964 supa dexta, I cannot get the 3pl to raise, the problem started some time ago where it would go all the way up or all the way down, consequently I had really no control.Where can I get hold of a workshop manual locally, I live in Virginia, S.Aust.

Steve,

Have just had a similar problem fixed on my Super Dexta. Hydraulics would only provide position control very low down the height range, or right up in the transport position. In between, it would just drop.

Our mechanic finally tracked down that the position control lever in the quadrant operates a cam that determines the height of the lift. This cam pushes against a pin to turn the rotary motion of the control knob into a lateral motion. On our tractor this pin had worn almost through, so the cam had to be almost at full height before the pin would be moved. The transport position overrides this.

The pin is about 1 inch long, by 3/8 inch diameter.

Suggest your hydraulics person might start looking for wear there.

Steve, just a workshop manual probably won't do. Hydraulics are tricky. I'd advise you to have a pro take a look at it. Unless you REALLY know what you're doing, don't mess with it.

Burrhead might be able to offer more in-depth advise. My guess is that it will require quite a bit of work.
