Fordson dexta engine, weird sounds?

Ok, i have another problem, when i start my engine it starts great but then the engine while it is stationary gains and loses power the same when driving in a low gear on idle it gains and loses power, i checked the fan belt its ok, could it be the timing?, when i move the trottle its ok for a while but then starts again, Any ideas?

If you have a Super Dexta , it sounds as if your fuel pump govenor is low on oil. A lot of people forget to change the oil or let it get too low. Your fuel filters could be plugged as well or be iced-up with frozen condensation.

Alan,
There is nothing major wrong with your Dexta. The engine is "hunting". This is usually caused by running under light load and should not occur when loaded.

It could also be caused by a slight air leak on the pipe from the injection pump to the manifold or a faulty diaphram in the governor housing.

On the rear of the governor housing there should be a lock nut and an adjuster. Try moving the adjuster in a little and see what happens.
