Dad has bought a JD, 318 to replace his 120 which he has used since the early eighties. The 318 is origonal and in very good condition. The owners manual that he recieved with the tractor doesn't offer the information about horse power. Does anyone recall the stated horse power of the 318?

Bob's right, 18hp. and the engine should be an Onan. Good little tractors. I really like mine.

Be careful, 318 = 18HP, but 316 does not = 16HP. The 316 has the same 18HP Onan engine the 318 has in it's second generation build.

The 318 has an air cooled two cylinder engine with hydrostatic drive transaxle.
