18hp JD GT235, decent towing power?

Seems like a lot of mowers these days have 20+ hp motors, even smaller tractors. Mine has a 12.5 command and it's been a good mower. Looking at a GT235 with an 18 hp Kohler twin. I plan to pull a 400+ roller (couple times/yr) and a 5-gang mower. Will this tractor easily pull 100-150 tounge weight w/o bogging it too much? I'm guessing it should. My STX38 pulls it ok, but bogs down the motor quite a bit. My terrain is mostly flat on a gentile incline. Thanks

My 18 horse JD 322 (Yanmar, 3 cylinder, gas, water cooled), runs a 50 inch mower deck and tows a 350 lb roller at the same time with no problems.

Well, this GT235 I'm looking at has a 2 cylinder Kohler 18hp engine, 48" deck. I'm wondering how it might pull a roller while mowing?

I think it would pull it just fine. A lawn roller is not a heavy load to pull. Cars weigh 2,000 plus lbs. Two guys can push one. I think you are comparing apples and oranges with the Sears and Deere. The GT 235 is over $4K new and the similar sized Sears is $2K. Everybody is throwing big engines in their cheap tractors. Even the biggest JD lawn and Garden tractors over $10k don't have 25 HP engines. They'd probably pull two Sears tractors backwards. Maybe big engines sell tractors. They are not bringing the driveline, front end and frame quality along as well. If they did they would have to get more for their tractors. I like the Deere tractors. The older 318's are a favorite. They have some cheaper tractors in the 100 series that I think the Sears can compete with. The 455 on the higher end (I guess they are X series now) is real nice but big $$. I don't like to tout JD too much because I know they are pricey.
