Will a 60 inch deck fit a late 318 jd? If so which one will fit? Off of a 425,430 or some other model. I would think that the 318 ought to handle the deck with very little problems. I never let my grass get more than 4 inches tall and I cut it at about 3 inches. Tell me what you think. Thanks Jake

Jake - A 60" deck will not directly fit a 318. The other tractors you listed are all shaft driven with respect to the deck. The 318 is belt driven. That's not to say, you could not make some modifications to get one to fit. However, you may run into some problems with respect to the distance between the front and rear wheels. A 50" deck fits with not a whole lot of extra room. So a 60" deck may pose some fit issues of its own. - Dave

Thank You Dave and ken,
Good thing you caught that about being shaft and belt driven, I didn't even think about it. I know the 50" deck is tight but I know on a Gravely a 50" and 60" would both fit. The 60" would sometime rub on the tire if wide fronts were used. Thanks Jake

Was a 54" deck ever used on a 318? I didn't think one was made or offered but I always see them advertised?

There is a "replacement" 48" deck for the 318. With regard to the 54" deck, not unless you modify one to fit, it won't hook up to the 318.

The only decks available for the 318 are the following:

38" / 46" / 50" / 48" replacement

daves right i believe the deck is too big front to back to clear the tires and shaft drive.the way they are you have to take off the right front wheel to get it under my 430 it's that tight under it.
