Hi Jeff

Just did some work on a wisc. TRA10D. Got a
piston and rod on ebay $25.00, I went to a lawn mower shop here in Wooster, Ohio and they ordered me a head gasket ($12.00 something I think and side case gasket. Carb, intake, misc
stuff , I make on site with gasket material from NAPA.. Bearings and seals usually are cross-ref's
at a bearing shop or NAPA stores. Wisc parts are
higher than a few years ago but most mower shops seem to have a place they can drop ship them from.(a good set of hole punches, a sharp exacto knife set, a roll of heavy brown paper, cork and rubber gasket material from NAPA will save a lot
of problems with small engines of any kind, old or new)
Hope this helps
Bob
PS tiller avg $ 100.00 Blower avg $ 150.00 Blades 50.00-100.00 Condition is everything!
Ref to "slow Tiller comment" if you do a lot of tilling, replace the lower PTO pully with one 1/2
the size.. Just don't use the mower deck !!

enjoy

That's an idea, putting a small pulley on the driveshaft to the pto. (but you'd need a warning not to use a mower deck as is!) I've thought the roto-tiller set up would also work better if it ran the other way, i.e. against the direction of travel- backwards. In hard ground the tiller tends to push the tractor, which wouldn't happen if it ran backward. Since I do a large garden I don't use the tiller- it's just as easy (and fun) to fall plow, then use a disc or harrow in the spring. To me a rototiller is for small dead end spaces.

Hi Jeff The 900 is a nice little tractor, call ed "bolens tube frame" all early bolens attachments will fit. There are a great number
of them (Tractors - bolens on ebay) for almost every thing you can imagine. All attachments are "shaft driven" from a PTO below the engine.
Most common are plow, snow blower, tiller and mower deck. Less commo- sickle bar mowers, generators, grader blades, etc. Hope this helps some..I have a 63 800 - esentially same machine

Enjoy

I've had a couple Bolens over the years, first a 650 then a 1050. Both are tube frame similar to yours. In more recent years the 10 hp. Wisconsin knocked and I parked the tractor, got a new J.D. I had a spare 8 hp. Briggs & 'Strapon' sitting around. For fun (and no cost) I put it in the Bolens. Shaft size on the pulleys fit, and it fit well otherwise also. To my surprise it performs about the same as the old Wisconsin. I've used it quite a bit this way as a 'puller'- bar tread tires and weights. BTW, I have one of those rear tine tillers, IMHO it turns too slow with the worm gear drive to be much use. And, I'd estimate the average price of a snowblower attachment around $150.

Saw your message on YT. Do you have a Starter Sheve for a Wisconsin S 8D or 10D.

I might also add, there's a dealer in the Portland, Indiana area that is big into Bolens tractors and parts. I'm sure he'd be able to supply parts for Wisconsins. I'd have to dig up his address and phone number if you're interested- or someone else might have it.
