JT, thanks , you asked for more info, tractor could sit for a wk, starts up, use her to cut lawn (3hrs) put her away, next week she wont start, changed oil yesterday, got the 1st 3 pints to her and would'nt start to put the remaining 14 oz. today she started for me to put the remaining, ran for a minute. changed hydro fluids tried to start no luck. I noticed today my oil light comes on after leaving the key in the on posistion maybe a minute. suppose to come on soon as i turn the key to on posistion. do you think maybe ignition SWITCH might be bad, she's 16 yrs old? this unit has electronic ignition. Thought maybe removing the shroud that holds my gas tank, module is right there behind it. any help will be gratefully accepted, les

Lester,
Ok, here goes:
Oil pressure light not coming on immediatly after turning on key? Could be a bad igntion switch, could be a bad oil pressure switch and if it hooked up as low oil pressure shut down switch, you could have found your problem. to get to the coil, you have to remove gas tank, then remove engine, then you can get the blower housing off to get to the coil. To check the pressure switch, take off the engine cover that the oil filter is on, the switch should be on the filter mounting base. This switch grounds when the oil pressure drops, thus, shutting off ignition system. If you find the three wires coming out from under the blower housing, 2 are charging wire, other is kill wire for igntion system, try unhooking the kill wire and see if it will start, this will at least take the coil out of the equation of the problem. If you want to check this out and get back to me with the results, if that does not solve the problem, then we will go to next step.
Jim

JT, not switch, oil pressure switch, isn't that like a plug into the block? your saying it's on the oil filter base. no wires there. the kill switch wire you talk about, is that coming from the coil. 2 high tension leads and a white wire, is the white wire your kill switch lead. you sound like your in the bussiness cause i've read some of your other comments to other people. it's very nice of you sir to take the time to help people like myself, can't thank you enough.
