I am trying to find the correct part number for a 1980 Garden Way Troy Bilt 7 horsepower model. In particular, I need the transmission pulley, the one with two pulley grooves for low and high gear. Just got a replacement from a dealer and the shaft diameter is bigger than the hole in the new one. The incorrect # is GW 2107. I bought it new and had the parts book/brochure, but after 25 years cannot find it.Help.

Are the 2 grooves the same diameter and have a matched belt pair and you have a lever for the 2 speeds or are the grooves different diameters so you change the single belt to get 2 speeds plus a lever for 2 more speeds? The serial# is stamped on a flat spot on the left side of the trans. so you can read it looking stright down.

Yes, I have a one belt two groove pulley system. Thank you for responding, however I found an old 1981 Troy Bilt Owners News magazine that had a complete parts listing for the only two models they had, the Pony and the Horse with different horsepowers and related options available. Anyway, I found the part number (1008) that subs to (1008-1). Going to check with the dealer that sold the wrong part today. Have also found the part online in stock @ a dealer 2 hours away. Thanks again for your help, I would have needed it. We really lost a good company to MTD.
