As the title states I have a 1992 John Deere 425 with Hydralic Pump Problem. The problem started when I was using the loader with it and the brakes would not work and stepping on the gas would not let the tractor move. The loader would not move up and down a nicely either. It was like this for 1 hour of operation until I switched the hydralic fluid which was old and grew very hot and would bubble after use. I know air is not good for the pump. After switch the pump made a sputtering sound. I bleed the hydralics and got some air to come out of it. The problem persisted. I think the problem may be a ruined hydralic pump but am hoping not for the price to replace it. Do you have to prime the hydralics on it? What else could be wrong?

I think your right, sounds like someone ruined the charge pump. I think they are around $300. We replaced one at our shop about a year ago. Not too bad to replaced though, remove seat, fender deck, and its right on top with four bolts. Joe
