I'm rebuilding a 241 kohler and was cleaning up the flywheel. I noticed a crack right along the keyway. Can I get this welded or is that not a good idea since it's cast? Just what are my options????

Steve,
The ONLY option you have is to find a new wheel or good used one. A welder & flywheel are not a good combo.

I don't think welding on a flywheel is EVER a good idea because of the potential destructive force if the flywheel were ever to fail.

2 different flywheels used on the k241[different taper on the crankshaft]--we have pur steel bushings on the flywheel with no problems
