Does anyone know how to adjust so that the forward peddle is not bottomed out. I have the owners manual, but no info in there. I have to push down very hard to make the mower move forward.

Sounds like your clutch needs shimmed. This is a common problem on the autogear transaxle. Cub Cadet makes different thickness shims for these transaxles. To access clutch you will need to remove fenders/running boards and gas tank. You should notice a rounded triangular shaped plate on back of transaxle toward the top. You will have to remove the three mounting screws and this plate to add shims. You dealer should have a service bulletin about this problem with shim part numbers and measurement specs.
