Hi all, My elderly friend has electrical problems with his 2155 again. There is no juice to the solinoid. I replaced the brake switch, starter and key switch for him last summer when he ask me to. Now he called me with no juice to the starter. I tested from the key to the solinoid with a voltmeter. No reading. I would like to know how to test the seat switch and the pto switch. Is there anything I am missing? I did notice there is a headlight plug missing and the two wires are there but taped up. I pulled and cleaned a three wire plug on the right side hanging down under the dash by the pto switch. It was something that plugged in with nothing else coming out of it. It was white and didn"t have prongs, but three contacts. I dont have any idea what it is. I dont have a wiring diagram. I notice a little black box on the right side also that had prongs but I dont know what that is either. I jump started it but as soon as i take the wire off from the battery to the solinoid it dies, unless you turn the key to the start position, it will stay running. I jumped it before I put a new starter on it and it would stay running with the key in the on position, and the jumper taken off. Now it won"t stay running after I jumped it. I would like some ideas of what to check and what to look for. thank you for your replies...tink

2155 has a kohler engine, it is hydrostatic, not gear drive.
check the metal tab that pushes on the brake siwtch.

Sorry, I have a 1225 I use for utility work and the cadet website said the 5 meant 5 speed so my bad, I just assumed a 2150 was a hydro, I thought it was funny a tractor of that size would be a gear drive. I have a 2284 with oil sentry but I assume it monitors oil pressure not level. He did say he checked the brake switch but not the tab. I know my seat switch is a double switch that I had to jumper one and open the other.I'm not saying anymore too many critics.

Sorry, just having a bad day and Cadet seems to have a goofy numbering system I know when I bought my 1225 (which I didn't have any manuals for) I went to Cadet's website and found out the year 1993 and checked on the model nomanclature and they called out the 12 was 12hp I don't remember what the 2 was for but they said the last number was the drive type 5 being 5 speed and 0 was hydro but I guess that was 1993 that may have changed based on the year it was built. Anyway what happened to tink? Sorry for being so snappy. CT

no problem here, i know how bad days go!! the older cub cadets numbering was basicly the same, the even numbers were gear drive and the odd numbers were hydrostatic, ex. 108 10hp gear dr. 149- 14hp hydro. but i dont think the numbering system works the same for "lawn tractors" this numbering system was for "garden tractors"
it gets really confusing when they get into the garden tractors in the early 80's

Well tink, I'll try to help you the best I can. Number 1 I assume you're talking Cub Cadet with a 5 speed transmission. If it is what engine does it have? B&S or Kohler this is important because the Kohler has an oil sentry that will not let the engine run if the oil level is low. The seat switch is kind of goofy because it has a NC-NO switch back to back so it makes it difficult to jumper it out. The other switch you are talking about could be the reverse switch that shuts down the pto clutch when you backup a lot of people disable this switch because it is kind of a nuisance. Let's go from there. CT
